May 26, 2025 – SUBMISSION DEADLINE, COMPETITION FOR PRODUCERS
WIFT/Houston is collaborating with the new Houston Association of Producers (HAP) with a competition that will recognize the works of local producers! The Houston Association of Producers Industry Excellence Awards – the HAPIE Awards – will showcase the diverse pool of production talent in the Greater Houston area. The awards recognize craft specific categories of top talent in their perspective area. A social event to announce the award nominees will be held June 5 with the competition’s award gala planned for August 20. WIFT/Houston is proud to have three members on the founding HAP board of directors: Michelle Mower, President; Ruth Villatoro, Vice President; and Jenny Waldo, Secretary. WIFT/Houston will present the award-winning film “Bolivar” featuring filmmaker/actress Nell Teare at The River Oaks Theatre. August 22 through August 24, 2025 – HOUSTON MEDIA CONFERENCE
Regional summit produced by the Houston Cinema Arts Society which “intersects technology and education where creatives can share skills, forge valuable industry connections and improve their careers.” The conference is held in west Houston at the Norris Convention Center at CityCentre, 816 Town and Country Blvd. WIFT/Houston was a vendor at last year’s conference where members Merideth Melville, Julitta Pourciau, Tsventaline Pourciau and Cynthia Neely represented the chapter at our booth.
