WIFT'S SPOTLIGHT EVENT
Thursday, July 24
6:30 PM, at The Drake, 1902 Washington Ave., Houston 77007
Houston's Vice President Marc Isaacs presents "Gone In Thirty-Seconds: Useless Networking (and how to avoid it)," to be held at The Drake, 1902 Washington Ave., 77007 (located at the corner of Silver and Center Streets). As attention spans get shorter and shorter, an elevator pitch that's any longer than 30 seconds gets tuned out. Learn to be short, simple and to the point. It's sure to be informative and fun, and you really can't afford to miss it if you want to become a pro at this necessary tool in today's fast-paced society. Member Cost: $15.00, Non-Members: $30.00. R.S.V.P. to wifth@yahoo.com, and provide your full name, and the number of guests you’ll be bringing. Payment will be due at the door unless advanced arrangements are made.
Our July 24th Spotlight Event marks the launch of a new educational series hosted by Women In Film & Television Houston. A series with this kind of impact needs a mighty compelling name and that’s where you
come in. We’re looking for your ideas on what to call our new program series. What would grab attention? What sounds interesting? What inspires you? Get your creative juices flowing and come up with one, two, even ten ideas.
A committee of WIFT members will select a name from all submissions, and the person with the “winning name” will receive a $100 gift card from So Vino Bistro & Wine Bar good towards Dinner for Four. Visit www.sovinowines.com for information on a unique variety of wine and dinner options.
Set aside a few minutes and brainstorm, or collaborate with friends. Then submit your best ideas by e-mail to
wordmasseur@comcast.net no later than Wednesday, July 30th. The winning selection will be announced in August. Good luck!

WIFT's 13th Birthday Celebration
It’s in the making, so stay alert for new updates. The occasion provides the perfect opportunity to say a sincere and well-deserved THANK YOU and show our appreciation to our Immediate Past President CYNTHIA HAND NEELY (2000-2008) for her long-standing service and dedication to the organization, a period that spans a decade.
Thanks also to her family for sharing her with the organization for these many years. We know you also deserve thanks, and we hope you will join us for this celebration.
The occasion is also a time to remind us of the valued service of each of our past presidents: Founding President Melody Moss, followed by Merideth Melville, Linda Lowe, and Gudrun Klein. We hope they, too, will be in attendance. Gudrun, who lives in Germany, may be able to join us.
